The Cotswold Festival of Music will expand this autumn to include a Saturday early afternoon “teatime classics” concert with tea and cake.

This programme celebrates the work of English composers from the 18th century who wrote for London’s Pleasure Gardens, including Thomas Arne and William Boyce. The audience at the Pleasure Gardens needed music that was easily accessible to encourage them to stay and listen and also in the hope that they might purchase the printed music afterward. Many texts explore simple pastoral scenes where shepherds and shepherdesses fall in and out of love, sometimes with disastrous effect…

Conclude your cultural journey of this year's Cotswold Festival of Music with an intimate one-hour concert featuring pastoral songs that celebrate the essence of English Arcadia, all set in the Heart of the Cotswolds. All in the beautifully acoustic Church of St Peter and St Paul, Northleach, GL54 3HZ
